OCF joins Fairhair as a liaison member

Published on Thursday 24 May 2018, by Tim Whitaker

The Fairhair Alliance is very pleased to announce that it has signed a liaison agreement with the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF).

OCF is dedicated to ensuring secure interoperability for consumers, businesses and industries by delivering a standard communications platform, a bridging specification,  an open-source implementation and a certification program allowing devices to communicate regardless of form factor, operating system, service provider, transport technology or ecosystem. The industry-leading companies involved in OCF believe that secure and reliable device discovery and connectivity is a foundational component to enable the Internet of Things (IoT).
OCF and Fairhair plan to exchange information on ongoing work regarding loT for lighting control and building automation for commercial buildings.

Possible areas for information sharing include complex use cases needed in the lighting-control and building-automation domains, such as lifecycle management of devices, and notifications to large groups of devices.

OCF and Fairhair may also share information on system architectures, including network and security technologies, and technologies from other organizations such as IETF and W3C.
